Privacy Policy
How Ogmo handles your data.
Last updated: April 14, 2026
Note: This policy is issued by Ogmo, a project currently operated by Daria Iaparova (founder and operator) and Wentao Guo (Apple Developer account holder), pre-incorporation, trading as Ogmo. Legal entity details will be updated upon incorporation.
Ogmo is an iOS app that gives Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) students real-time captions, speaker identification, and AI-generated session summaries. Privacy is built into how we work: audio is never stored, transcripts stay on your device, and we do not build profiles on you.
This policy explains exactly what data we handle, why, who else sees it, and what rights you have.
1. Account Information
When you sign in, we use Sign in with Apple only. Apple provides us with a unique user identifier so we can recognize your account.
- If you choose to share your email address through Apple's relay service, we may receive a relay address. We do not require it.
- We do not collect your name, Apple ID email, or any other Apple account details unless you explicitly share them.
Why: To create and maintain your account so your settings and subscription status are tied to you.
2. Audio
When you use Ogmo in a session, your device microphone captures audio and sends it to Soniox (our speech-to-text provider) for processing.
- Soniox processes the audio and returns the transcript. Soniox does not store your audio.
- Ogmo does not store your audio anywhere — not on our servers, not in any database.
- After the transcript is returned, the audio is gone.
Why: Real-time transcription requires a speech recognition engine. Soniox is our processor for this.
3. Transcripts and Session Summaries
Transcripts and AI-generated summaries are stored on your device only.
- They are not sent to Ogmo's servers.
- They are not stored in the cloud.
- Only you can access them, from your device.
AI summaries are generated by sending your transcript text to Google Gemini API. Gemini processes the text and returns a summary. Google does not store this data.
Why: So you can review what was said in a session after it ends.
4. Analytics and Crash Reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to collect anonymized usage data and crash reports.
This includes things like: which features are used, how often sessions are started, and details about crashes (device type, iOS version, what the app was doing when it crashed).
- This data does not include your audio, transcripts, or summaries.
- It is anonymized and aggregated.
- It is used to improve the app and fix bugs.
Why: We need to know when the app breaks and how people use it so we can make it better.
5. Purchases
In-app purchases (subscriptions and top-ups) are handled entirely by Apple. We do not see or store your payment information. Apple processes and manages all billing.
We do receive confirmation from Apple that a purchase was made so we can unlock the relevant features in your account.
Subscription state and entitlement management is handled by RevenueCat, which processes purchase receipts and device identifiers to validate and track your subscription status.
Why: To activate your subscription or top-up hours after a purchase.
Third-Party Processors
External services that handle your data as part of running Ogmo.
| Processor | What they handle | Store data? |
|---|---|---|
| Soniox | Audio (speech-to-text) | No — processes only |
| Google Gemini API | Transcript text (AI summaries) | No — processes only |
| Google Firebase | Usage + crash data | Yes — anonymized |
| RevenueCat | Subscriptions, receipts | Yes — per their policy |
| Apple | Sign-in, purchases | Yes — per Apple's policy |
How Long We Keep Your Data
Retention depends on the type of data and where it lives.
| Data type | Where it lives | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Account identifier | Ogmo systems | Until you delete your account |
| Audio | Nowhere | Deleted immediately after processing |
| Transcripts & summaries | Your device only | Until you delete them or the app |
| Firebase analytics | Google's servers | Per Google's settings (anonymized) |
| Subscription data | RevenueCat | Per RevenueCat's policy |
| Purchase records | Apple | Per Apple's policies |
Your Rights
Access
View your transcripts and summaries at any time inside the app. They live on your device.
Deletion
Delete your account and all associated data from within the app. Device data is deleted when you remove the app.
Portability
Your transcripts are on your device in a readable format. Export functionality may be added in a future version.
Opt out of analytics
Limit tracking through iOS privacy settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).
Children
Ogmo is designed for university students and adult learners. We do not knowingly collect data from users under the age of 13, or the minimum age required in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher. If you believe a child has used the app and provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and notify users through the app where required. We will not silently change what data we collect or how we use it.
